  • Wanting to move to Canada...

I've been dating a Canadian citizen since November 2005 (less than one year). I currently live in the US and we take turns going back and forth visiting one another each month. I don't think we technically qualify for a common law or conjugal partner relationship do we?

Can I just move to Canada and live with her for a year, then apply for permanent status? If so, what are the steps to do that? I don't think I need a temporary resident visa since I'm from the States. But, at the same time, I just don't think I can cross the border and tell them I'm moving in with my girlfriend LOL...correct?

    Congrats

Congratulations to you JErix and I sure a s hell hope that you two have a great life. I cnat answer your questions in totallity however accorrding to the Canadian official wesite you are able to go to canada and if you two get married than she can apply for you and a s such you may remain there until you get your PR. I know that you must ahve gone to the Canadian website but it is very clear there that you can do such. This having been done all else will be a breeze...of course marriage is another new step to your life but my best wishes to you both!
