Please advice

I applied for canadian immi as a skilled worker. Got a letter from the buffalo NY emabassy to attend an interview in Nov'06 which is two months from now. I will be unable to attend the interview is there any way i can postpone it. Will they reject my case if i do that.

If i attend the interview and get stamped in my passport for how long would it be valid for me until i land in canada. Please advice.
