I am a US citizen, and I want to visit Canada as a tourist. I am going to visit my boyfriend, who is a Canadian citizen, and want to stay an extended amount of time, but do not want to immigrate. From what I read, I need to prove that I want to return to the US, and that I have means to provide for myself while in Canada. I'm not sure how long I'm going to stay, so I'm thinking about buying a refundable return ticket for December, and just exchanging it for the date I go home. Also, how would I prove that I have the available money to take care of myself? Could I show a bank statement as I will be using my Visa check card while there, or do I need travelers checks? How much money would be sufficient for say 5-6 months? Does this sound like it would work? I'm just afraid of landing at the airport in Canada, and them telling me no. I visited Canada in July, and had no problems, but I was just staying 1 week. Thank you for your time, and any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated
