complex canadian immigration visa

Hello everybody,
first of all I would like to congratulate Immihelp for making such a meaningful
website and thanx all for reading my message.
Well friends I have a few questions in my mind reagarding canadian immigration.

I have a very complex Canadian Visa history.

I got immigration visa for canada 8 years ago under the family sponsorship
by help of my brother who is canadian citizen but due to sudden illness of my sister who suffered from blood cancer I returned visa to canadian embassy at new delhi to take care of her here in India she expired after one year.
In 2001 I got visitor visa for USA and after tht applied for Canadian visitor visa but they refused me by giving excuse as I had intension to settle in canada earlier.I visited US a couple of times after it again applied for canadian visitor visa n got it finally and had travelled to canada a a couple of times.

Now I am planning to apply for canadian immigration under skilled catagory
I have following querries.

1. Do I need to get my visitor visa cancelled b4 appling for canadian immigration.

2.Can I travel to canada while my immigration visa is in process or Immigration officer at port if entry can deny me entry due to immigration visa is in process.

3. Can I apply for my Immigration visa from Buffalo ( USA) canadian consulate
as I am holding Business ( B1/B2) 10 yr multiple entry visa and can travel to US anytime ie to file my case or for any other valid cause.

4. will my previous immigrant visa status will help me to speed up the process.

Dear Vikas,

I am trying to reply for your quereis as per my knowledge, which may be wrong. So please cross check before taking any decision.

1.No you don't need to Cancel tourist visa for applying Immigration.

2. Yes, If you have valid tourist visa, you can travel to Canada. (I travelled twice during my imm.process)

3. Yes, you can apply from Buffalo.

4. don't know

I disagree with oshoexport on answer # 3. As CIC website mentions that you need to be in your current country of residence for atleast one year in a legal status.

In your case, I understand that you keep flying back and forth from US which dint fulfil the above condition. Hence you cant apply from Buffalo. A quote from CIC Website:
"Applicants for Permanent Residence
You must apply in your country of residence, your country of nationality or the country where you have been legally admitted for at least one year."

Ans4. No. I dont think so coz your earlier visa was a "Family Class" and this time you are going for "Skilled Worker". These are two different streams.
