    Hi friends,

this is a great site for future immigrants.

I have applied for the canadian immigration under skilled worker(general category). I need ur help with respect to my case. i have some queries. please answer if u have knowledge. May God bless us all.

    1. My processing started from November 2005 from the new delhi post. how many year(s) i have to wait for getting the visa. i am a single applicant. why do they take years to clear applications. its really frustrating. Does having a file number mean i will get immigration?

2.i have taken Ielts recently. i got overall band of 7 but in reading i got 6.5 should i submit the test form or should i retake the test? how long is this valid?

    3. at the time of submitting my application i told that i would be learning french to get the 2 addional points since i was getting only 66 points. i dont have any intention of learning french. should i learn it? by october 2008, i will get another 2 points thus taking my tally to 68 points. bear with me guys this is really a sphagetti.

    4. inspite of having a masters degree and 2 years of experinece i still have only 66 points(excluding the 2 french points and i am getting only 14 points for english since i got 6.5 in reading section) but i have a file number from the high commission. i feel depressed with this whole process. why is it so complex? does canada really need immigrants?

    5. when will i get a call for interview or the interview waiver. this whole process is so tiresome and laborious. these guys r severely understaffed? i dont think canada will keep pace with US with respect to immigration.

    6. i have a cousin sister(my dad's sisters daughter) who recently become a PR. can i get 5 points under the relationship factor? do they only ask for immediate blood relatives or would cousins do?

    7. should i get married to get bonus points or would engagaement be enough? i was hoping to get immigration and then get married, but if i dont have any way, i will get married. (of course with a girl who has a masters degree).

    8. finally i have submitted PCC, bank statement for 10000 $ without the high commission asking me for them will they ask them again? should we submit docs only if they ask?

    please answer these questions. thanks

    Moiz.

ND is one of the slowest in the world. It can take upto 60 months.

2.i have taken Ielts recently. i got overall band of 7 but in reading i got 6.5 should i submit the test form or should i retake the test? how long is this valid?

I have read on another forum that an over all band of 7 should give you full marks for language as told by a retired immigration officer. IELTS are valid for one year only. Most probably you will have to take the test again.

    3. at the time of submitting my application i told that i would be learning french to get the 2 addional points since i was getting only 66 points. i dont have any intention of learning french. should i learn it? by october 2008, i will get another 2 points thus taking my tally to 68 points. bear with me guys this is really a sphagetti.

I have read on their documents that you MUST satisfy all the criteria at the time of submitting you application. If CIC gave you this suggestion ... go for it or alternatively your additional experience might get you additional points.

    4. inspite of having a masters degree and 2 years of experinece i still have only 66 points(excluding the 2 french points and i am getting only 14 points for english since i got 6.5 in reading section) but i have a file number from the high commission. i feel depressed with this whole process. why is it so complex? does canada really need immigrants?

Process is not complex but it is detailed as they need to secrutinize the persons immigrating. About your language points I already told u earlier. Keep Heart.

    5. when will i get a call for interview or the interview waiver. this whole process is so tiresome and laborious. these guys r severely understaffed? i dont think canada will keep pace with US with respect to immigration.

The call or waiver will be towards the end of the process. The delay is also due to some kind of quota system by Canadian govt though they claim that the highest quota is allocated to ND.

    6. i have a cousin sister(my dad's sisters daughter) who recently become a PR. can i get 5 points under the relationship factor? do they only ask for immediate blood relatives or would cousins do?

You will get points for following relative as per CIC website:
Family in Canada (parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, sister, brother, niece, nephew, child or grandchild, spouse or common-law partner who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada)

    7. should i get married to get bonus points or would engagaement be enough? i was hoping to get immigration and then get married, but if i dont have any way, i will get married. (of course with a girl who has a masters degree).

Spouse points will only be awarded if you are married. Engagement won't do.

    8. finally i have submitted PCC, bank statement for 10000 $ without the high commission asking me for them will they ask them again? should we submit docs only if they ask?

They can ask for the documents at a later stage if even you have submitted earlier.

    please answer these questions. thanks

    Moiz.
One More thing .... getting pass marks is not a gurantee that you will get the PR status. It is on the descretion of IO. Even if you are a couple of points short and IO thinks that you can contribute to Canadian Society, you might be granted the PR or vice versa.

            Any Additional points will assist

Moiz although it is the immigration representative's job to make a final analysis on a prospective applicant, any additional points that you may be able to provide at the time of the interview will show many positive traits in an individual's character. Those additional points show a person who is concerned with ongoing education, constructive time management and a superior intellect. Here in Trinidad a guy with long unkept hair and high education went for the interview and failed. He spoke with a great amount of slang and jargon and this reflects a character of disrespect especially in the setting of such an important environment. At the interview one must present oneself in a positive manner and with decency, attentiveness, kindness and an air of actually wanting to contribute to Canada and totally desiring to be a Canadian. Many people have gotten their status with a few points less than the required 67 simply becasue they were personable and respectful during the interview process and this symbolizes soem of the traits that Canada is seeking in it's new population. As FinPro has indicated the point system is simply a guideline and as per stipulation of the CIC website, al is in the discretion of the interviewing officer. The wait may be long but it will be well worth it. By the way you mentioned immigration to the US and please knwo that although life is quite nice in the US and things are relatively cheaper than in Canada, and wages are better to soem extent, life in Canada has a major advantage to that in the US and this is that Canadian life is far more moralistic and placid than American life.
