  • problems migrating to canada

my husband & I are in the process of migrating to canada,we have a represensative who has just told us she is about to put our case forward to the london embassy ,would anyone know how long a couple with no children & both in our 40 plus years, expect to wait for the goverment to alow our pr's to be passed.
We have read various letters of how long this could take,& in some cases this could be as long as 4 years, could anyone be more specific please.
We have got through the 1st 67 points just,& that has been so long & hard to get,as we both don't have highly qualified jobs,we have just scrapped the points together,we are living in northern ireland & have just found out our case now has to go to London canadain embassy.
This is so frustrating & time consuming,do we have any more opptions.
Any advice would be most welcome.
    Thanks ,kind regards .

A good journey to you all!

Catherinip and husband. Welcome to this forum and i must attest to the fact that it is one of the poorer forums in terms of responses and so forth. I know that the wait for case determination can be a very frustrating experience but for most of us this is what we must put up with for a few years in a better country. I imagine that the wait for the interview for some is more than others and the CIC website attests to this fact. I encourage you to go to that website and continue to do so until the case decision.
I dont know much about the situation in your area, however I will share some fo the experiences from the country in which I live, Trinidad in the West Indies. It appears that most people who have a decent past, good health, below 49 and have accrued the 67 points or more or in some cases less, said people find it easy to get to immigrate to Canada. Many people from Trinidad have been getting skilled worker approval and a s indicated on the CIC website, the period of time that it takes for 50% of the cases to be finalized is somewhere in the region of 26 months, for this country. 80% of the cases take about 33 months and so forth, but it generally takes quite some time. but the thing is that you guys are under 49 and you have the point standing and you should strive to make your interview as good as possible and comfortable a s possible. This is the beginning of a new life for your hubby and yourself and you should embrace the fact that most possibly you will be in Canada very soon with a much better life than you now have. Many of the members of this group, except for one other individual, simply pass in for information and never return after they have gotten such and some never get any responses at all so be aware of this. However the one other person and myself are always welcoming to people who want to better themselves and w e do and a s such please feel free to stay in touch and share our trials and experiences so that we may encourage and assist each other both now and in the future. best wishes to you both.

Hello catherine. Is funny you should say your from northern ireland because thats exactly where I am too!

Can I ask are you applying through the 'skilled worker class' for immigration or if not which way?

I can tell you that depending upon the time of year, the immigration office in question and other factors, the processing time for an application for permanent residence filed under the skilled worker class can vary from between 6 months and 40 months.

The longest processing times are those comming from countries like New Delhi, Islamabad, Singapore and Beijing only because there are far more people applying from there each year.
