I think you would have to yes, as you say, English is not your native language. But why worry, if your living in the US, and studying in English and if you feel you can speak fluently in English then you have nothing to worry about, do you!

I agree with you. Its easy to say but am wondering how can I show that in documentation. Later, the immigration team should believe that documentation. Otherwise, I will endup in losing the points which can affect my PR..

i dont fully understand what you mean.

If you take the IELT and sucessfully pass, it you are issued with a certificate to prove you can speak proficiently in that language.

Can you not just show this certificate to the immigration official, who will determine how many points you get?

I think he has to take the test as he is not able to understand what you are trying to tell him. You told him its better to take the test and he is thinking you said how he will prove his proficiency by submitting some documents.

              dont write ielts

              hi,

if u believe ur english is gud then dont take the ielts test. professionals who are not native english language speakers speak and write better english than those people. i also plan not to take it. a document can never be a proof for a persons english abilities.

                Guys Stop !!

Any person non native english speaking country should be able to proove that he/she is fluent enough in English language. No matter at what stage , you should provide that certificate. It saves lot of time. So if you dont have enought time now, send the application and then give exam and send the certificate as soon as possible. This way the assesment will be done soon after you send the certificate and helps immigration officer to take a decision. Or it will take longer time and then cic send letter what they need and then you need some time to get the documentation and then send to cic....this all eats up lot of valuable time which could be save if you plan well in advance.

in my case it took 3 months after they send letter and i wrote exam and send the certificate. No matter what proof you submit may not be considered if it is not the approved english exam.

                thank you guys
