  • Please help me to know the truth

    hi there,

    My name is Suchitra
I would like your help in this issue, me and my husband have planned to immigrated to Canada under the skilled worker immigration PR , and we were about to submit the application with the fees, but yesterday I was searching the internet about any news about how it is in Canada, the cost of living and that stuff, and i saw a forum about immigrants in Canada , they were talking very badly about the situation there and how some of them returned back home after they lost their savings without finding any job, or if they found one it won't be suitable to their level of education, experiences and skills, and how they regret that they moved to Canada after they were living in better conditions in their home country. Is the Govt. is aware of the plight of hundreds of thousands of immigrants and if so what action is being taken? As these people have done everything to get this Canadian experience and assessed their degrees and even some of them joined universities to get Canadian certificates. I would like really to know the truth , 'cause this forum didn't say any good word about living and migrating to Canada. and actually we want immigrate there seeking a peaceful life for us and our kids, with good life conditions. any advice will be appreciated. Really in need for that advice. i work in the dot net fields and my husband work in the accounting field.

i read lot of horror stories in the below mentioned web sites.
i asked some people who already immigrated in 2004, they said DONT COME,
CANADA IS GRAVEYARD OF DREAMS, SO MANY LIVES RUINED, SO MUCH MONEY WASTED, ETC.ETC

    thanks in advance
    Suchi

Try to join a big company like TCS, Wipro.. they send you to Canada for short projects all expense paid. If you like it there, you can decide whether you still want to immigrate there.

      Still is better there.

Suchrita and husband! Very good thing that you are doing your research before spending money to migrate to Canada because there will be a large culture shock welcoming you when you do arrive there. For people like yourselves who are highly educated a problem is presented on trying to adjust to a new life in ANY country. You folks may not be used to hard work and long hours doing menial tasks whilst you await a better job. But the story of immigration is not as easy as many think. The fundamental question that needs to be asked is whether the lifestyle change will create a better"life" for your family and yourself. You cant expect to walk into a good job in any country you migrate to, even your own country of citizenship. Most times it takes a long period before you may get a job to which you are qualified for. I migrated to the USA in 1986 as an electronic technician and I had to work there as a truck loader until in 1990 May, I obtained a job a s an electronic technician. But the fact is that whilst I was working as a truck loader, I wa s still making much more money than a job a s an electronic technician, in my home country. The environment was also cleaner, safer, healthier and much more profitable. Hence my lifestyle was better than in my own home country. I have over 200 family members who live in Canada and they will not leave there even to migrate to the US where life is much less strict and jobs pay a bit more and taxes are lower. They choose to remain in Canada because the life quality is far better than most other countries. My friends and relatives who have migrated to Canada have foiund jobs in their professions and soem have even accepted jobs in other professions because of the many reasons that may occur. All in all more people stay there but you may be coming from a background that is very different to the Western civilization's type structure, and hence you may need to make more adjustments than a person who is from the Western world moving to Canada or any of the Western countries. I also have noted many people saying that it is very difficult in Canada but you have to make a personal judgement on this issue. As a matter of fact, as leifbo**** indicated, you may be able to try out the country before actually migrating. The temporary worker program is now open a s so many people are needed there and you and your husband having much higher education will definitely fall into this category thus allowing you to go to Canada to work for a period of time after which you may make your decision. All I can say to you again is that life there will sure be a great joy and I really envy your high level of education but I feel sorry that you are not able to see that life is still affordable there even within a job that is a bit different to your profession. Please do not loose fate and try to stick to the plan because 98% of the people I have spoken to have said that canada is a beautiful country. My best wishes to your husband and yourself!
