Hello,
I am a GC holder in U.S. and shall be marrying a Canadian PR in the upcoming months. I plan to move to Canada after marriage. Questions multifold:
1. Can I maintain my U.S. GC status somehow while being married to a Canadian PR? The intention behind maintaining this dual status is that in the longterm, it is the pathway to U.S. citizenship which, in turn, is the pathway to claiming social security/retirement benefits (I have already qualified for monthly payments). Other than that, there is no confusion about the final country of residence (no "U.S. or Canada" debate).
2. I work for a U.S. based company on a W2-hourly basis. Do I have the option of continuing to work for them legally even after I move to Canada (assuming that I am able to work out the "remote-working" terms with them)?
3. In case I would have to give up my U.S. GC status, would appreciate any recommended resources, immigration lawyers, financial advisors to use for this transition.
Thanks much!
