  • Visitor visa canada - applying from US

Me and My family are on L1 visa in US. We are planning to apply for canada visitor visa. This is the list of documents I am planning to send.
    1. Application form
    2. 2 photos for each family member
    3. money order for single entry visit
    4. I-797 notorized copy
    5. Original passports for each member
    6. Bank statement and paystubs for last 3 months
    7. Employment verification letter - original
    8. Marriage certificate - notorized copy
    9. Birth certificate for son - notorized copy
    10. Cover letter to consulate

    My questions:
    1. Can someone pls confirm these documents are enough.
    2. Is detroit or buffalo consulate better to mail these and process.
    3. Anyone called for interview? What was your experiece? I stay flying distance from these consulates so if get called for interview, thats gonna be additional trip.

Looking forward for replies. Thanks in advance.

They ask for I797 original not a notarized copy on their website. I sent my original and may be a copy will also work. I sent to detroit and got mine back in 15 days. No interview. Did not send birth certificate. Just send what they ask you to on the website of the respective consulate.

Thanks for quick response. Website says photocopy is ok. Also another question, for photos with the required size, is it available in US?

I cut mine to the required size for the application. It is available on the website and any size photos can be made in the US. Visa does not have a picture.

That was helpful. Thanks a lot. last question though. appreciate your help..

I would be in canda for 2-3 days only. I would be driving to/from Niagara falls. What needs to be done for medical and auto insurance there?

Most US car insurers cover in Canada. Talk to your insurer and ask if they do.
