  • Canadian PR and US GC happening at same time

My wife applied for Canadian PR in 2006 and was approved in Feb-08. The approval is for whole family. We have got our passports stamped with Canadian immigrant visa in Mar-08 and we were planning to visit Canada in summer to complete landing process.

Last week (May-08) our US GC also got approved.

Now, the question is if we go to Canada in June for landing process, can there be any issue as we have got US GC? What happens if we do not declare that we have gt US GC?

Some one may question that why you go for landing after having US GC but the point is that my son took admission in McGill University, Montreal and he will be charged Canadian resident's fees if we complete landing process.

Any expert opinion will be very helpful.

    Thanks in advance.

You need to plan your move carefully. If you accept a permanent residence of other country after US GC approval, it may constitute that you do not intend to reside permanently in the US. Talk to an attorney.

If I were you, I would not land in Canada as a PR. You have to give up one PR.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
