  • Can B2 Visa be extended by visiting Canada & back to US

My parents came from india to visit USA on B2 Multiple entry visa for 10 Years. Their currently authorized stay on I-94 is only valid for 6 months, expiring on 12/28/2003.

I would like to extent therr stay in U.S. I would also like to take them to Canada for visiting and have already received Canadian visiting visa. We are planning to go to Canada in November.
    I have few questions.

    1. Do they need to surrender their I-94 when they leave for Canada?
    2. Do they get new I-94 with new date stamped so they don't need to apply for extension?

    3. What are the possiblites for getting new I-94 for another six months of stay by going to Canada and coming back the US. or Do I have to request their for extension from U.S?

Both my parents are having visa for 10 years with multiple entry.

    Please advice immediately

    Thanks so much in advance.

If you are going to canada VIA road they dont Take your I-94
But if you go via AIR \SEA they do take it and issue a new one when you return into USA depending on your Situation.
I highly doubt about extension this way and there are chances that they refuse your Entry as you have already stayed for 6 months or so..
Best way for Extensions are to apply to INS...
Dont recommend Canada Trip Unless you can stay in CANADA for 3 or 4 months
            Cheers

Please let me know your experience in detail; we are going to try the following:

I94 (B2) Extension by visiting Canada for 1 month

              -------------------------------------------------------------------------
              Hi,

My parents are here on B2 visa. POE officer gave I94 for 3 months only. Can they visit Canada for a month (30 days +) and return to US and get a new I94. They plan to go via Air to Toronto and we heard that we can submit the I94 at US Airport and they will get new I94 at Toronto US Immigration.

They have a 10yr multi entry B2 visa ; they also have 3 year multi entry Canda visa.

Please let me know if somebody has a similar experience at the Toronto Preclearance POE. [Note: We need new I-94 for 2 more months only ==> total stay in N.America = 6 months ; Initial 3 months US + 1 Month Canada + 2 months in US ] so we need the I94 for the 2 months only.

Plan is to send them by Air on last day of current I-94 ; and they would give the Airlines the I-94 , stay in Canada for 31 days ; then fly back to US.
