Documents for Canadian visitor visa!!!!

Hi,

I want to apply for Canadian visa for 2 purposes (tourism and visa stamping). I live in Texas and there are no consulates that I can drive and get visa stamped. so I have to mail them but the websites suggests sending in original I-797, I-94 and what not...

Is it ok to send notarized copies of the all the sensitive documents? Has anyone used this approach (Mail notarized docs) and got visa stamped?
