  • Traveling to Canada from US on L-1B

    Hi:

I am currently on L-1B in US and have a valid visa till May, 2012. I am planning to visit canada in couple of months from now.

    My questions are:
    1. Will there be any problems arise while returing back to US?
    2. This is my personal visit. So, Do I need to inform my employer if I am travelling out of US?

Please advice best options to travel canada without any issues.

    Thanks in Advance

    Regards
    Ramesh

    When does your I-94 expire?
If your Canada trip is less than 30 days and does not involve any other country, then when you leave the US you should not submit your I-94 and while returning they will let you keep the same I-94. If the trip is more than 30 days, you will need to return your I-94 and get a new one on return. You will need your Visa and petition approval notice. It is good to carry paystubs and employment verification letter too.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

Thanks for the reply and sharing the information.

My visa is till 2012 and I-94 till 2013; I am bit worried if it creates any issues while return. I do have all the pay stubs and documentation. Is ther any link or website which guides the procedure?

      Please advice

      Ramesh

Visa and I-94 are two different things. Their date need not match.
Read CBP website for entry procedures and automatic visa revalidation.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
