I am in USA right now on L1B visa which is going to expire and max out in the last week of september 2012 (I have to recapture ). I am going to apply for a H1B this year which will be effective only from Oct 1 2012. There is a gap of 4 - 5 days between L1B expiry and H1 activation.
For continuity purpose, I am planning to travel outside of US , like Canada for few days and then apply for a L1 extension so that it covers up to Oct 1 , 2012.
My Questions are
1. If I travel to canada by road/air for 4 days, will I get a new I-94 and an entry stamp ?
2. Can I use the these 4-5 days out side US for the recapture ?
3. If I apply for canada visitor visa in New York city, how many days it will take for processing ?
