  • Green Card holder gets job in Canada, what to do?

    Hello,

I'm a green card holder, and resident of colorado. I was originally born in canada, and moved to here at a young age.

Well, I've since graduated from university and got a job offer in Canada.

The job is in Consulting, and majority of hte work 80% will be in USA. Although it will be in various cities across the USA.

What implications does this have on my residency status. I only plan on taking this job for 2 years or less. And during this 2 years, I'll be in the states 80% of the time.

Is there any forms I need to fill out, or inform the INS? What do I need to do?

Your residence in Canada cannot be counted for US citizenship

Under NAFTA- North American Free Trade Agreement, citizens of US, Canada and Mexico can work with relatively not very complicated process.

If you are a green card holder, your stay in Canada will not be counted to become eligeble for US citizenship.
