advance parole on H-1B

Can an H-1B physician apply for an advance parole to travel outside the country when his application for green card is pending ? I don't want to apply at the US embassy in Pakistan and get stuck with security delay. I have been already stuck once in 2002 for 7 months ! is it possible and will it be approved ? MY H-1 IS EXTENDED ON PAPER, BUT CAN I LEAVE THE COUNTRY ON ADVANCE PAROLE AND BYPASS THE US EMBASSY IN PAKISTAN AND NOT GET THE H-1 STAMP ON THE PASSPORT ? OR WILL IT CAUSE PROBLEMS AS I COULD BE ACCUSED OF BEING ON AOS AND NOT MAINTAINING MY H-1 STATUS DESPITE HAVING VALID H-1 PAPERS?
