I-140 Approved, how long to get an EAD card.

Hello,
My PD is sept 2012 EB2 India, I am really waiting the dates to become current, so that I can apply for I-485 to get the EAD card, but I am not sure on rough estimate time ? Do you guys have any idea on how long it will be ? Also I don't know the logic behind EAD and GC when the date becomes current ,can we not apply for EAd and GC together ?
I would really appreciate the resoponse as I don't know about it.

When applying for Adjustment of Status, you have the option to apply for a Work Authorization and Advance Parole at the same time, for no additional cost. The resulting Work Authorization and Advance Parole are only temporary, until you have the Green Card and won't need them anymore.
