Leaving US without I131, but using it to return

Hi all,
I am wondering if someone knows what happens if a person that has applied for I485 as well as I131 leaves the US without having received the I131. I understood that attempting to RETURN without it, would abandon the case. But what if the I131 was approved and mailed to the person. Would he/she have any problem returning, and would it affect the I485 at all ?

I may be wrong, but I am sure the Advance Parole document has to be shown at the point of departure in the United States. It is way too risky to try and re-enter the US after the AP is sent to the person because the effective date is clearly printed on the document. If the effective date is AFTER the person left the United States, that person will not be allowed re-entry.
