  • do I need to attend CFO?

I came here in US through K-1 visa from Dubai UAE, then we got married and applied for EAD and AOS both were approved. Just a week ago I received my 2 year Green Card with my married name. I didn't apply or report marriage yet in Philippine consulate and my passport are still in my maiden name. I'm planning to visit my family in Philippines this April.
    My question is;

    1. Do I need to attend CFO in order to travel back here in US?
I didn't attend CFO before as I left Philippines as a tourist visa to Dubai, UAE and I worked there for 3 years before I flew in USA without visiting Philippines.
    2. What name will I booked on my ticket?
    3. What are the documents needed to present in Airport Immigration in Philippines?
    4. Can I register our marriage in Philippines while I'm there?

    I really need an answer.
    Thanks

IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING TO THE U.S. WITH A GREEN CARD, YOU DO NOT NEED THE CFO SEMINAR STICKER. IT IS NORMALLY REQUIRED ONLY WHEN LEAVING THE PHILIPPINES ON AN IMMIGRANT, FIANCEE, OR EMPLOYMENT BASED VISA. YOU NOW HAVE RESIDENCY STATUS, SO ARE NOT TRAVELLING ON A U.S. VISA.

I didn't attend CFO before as I left Philippines as a tourist visa to Dubai, UAE and I worked there for 3 years before I flew in USA without visiting Philippines.

YOUR TRAVEL TICKETS SHOULD BE BOOKED IN YOUR PASSPORT NAME.

    3. What are the documents needed to present in Airport Immigration in Philippines?

    JUST YOUR VALID PHILIPPINES PASSPORT.

    4. Can I register our marriage in Philippines while I'm there?

NO, YOUR MARRIAGE HAS TO BE REGISTERED AT THE PHILIPPINE CONSULATE, IN U.S., WHICH HAS JURISDICTION OVER THE STATE IN WHICH YOU WERE MARRIED. THE CONSULATE THEN FORWARDS YOUR 'REPORT OF MARRIAGE' TO THE DFA AND THEN TO THE NSO.

MY ADVICE IS TO NOT WORRY ABOUT REPORTING YOUR MARRIAGE, EVEN THOUGH THE CONSULATES SAY YOU 'MUST REPORT YOUR MARRIAGE.' YOU CAN DO IT WHEN YOU NEED TO EXTEND YOUR PASSPORT, AT WHICH TIME YOU CAN THEN REPORT YOUR MARRIAGE.

    I really need an answer.
    Thanks[/QUOTE]

        Hi,
I just came back from a trip in the Philippines. Bear in mind that every Filipino citizens who's holding Philippine passport you'll need CFO sticker even you are granted a "Green Card". It's a under the law in Philippines.

Just saying base on what I experience, I'm lucky I got CFO sticker without attending the seminar.

That's not entirely true. Only Filipinos leaving the Philippines on employment-based, K1 or immigrant visas are required to have the CFO seminar.

Those who obtain passports to travel on visitor visas, shopping in neighboring countries, tourism, etc., do not need the CFO seminar certificate or a CFO stsicker.

              Shane,

In addition, however, K1, k2, K3 and k4 visa holders also need the CFO stickers, and these are "nonimmigrant" visas.

And in addition also for those Filipino whose holding Philippine passport that got their visa such as K1,K3,k4,k2 in a foreign country and they didn't have CFO before they go to USA once you go for a trip in Philippines make sure to attend or get a CFO sticker.
