I am on a J2 visa which has just been extended for another two years but my EAD expires on 12/31/14. I currently have a job as a teacher in an immersion school but if I don't receive my card before we go back to school (01/05/15), I will be unable to work.
I filed my EAD electronically on 11/02/14 and I sent all the supporting documents which were received on 11/10/14. I was then fingerprinted on 11/26/14. I know this is quite late but I was waiting for my husband's university to extend our visas, which they just did at the end of October.
I know this is very last minute and I probably won't be able to do anything until next week now but is there a way to expedite my request? I cannot claim financial loss as I am on a J2 but this is going to cause a problem for the school as they will need to get a substitute teacher who will probably not be very fluent in the immersion language and the kids' education will suffer as a result. Can the school write me a letter along those lines? Is too early to expedite still? I am not sure whether I should use the 11/02 or 11/10 as my filing date as they both appear on my case status page on the USCIS website.
