  • Approved and Waiting for EAD 113 days now, Lost Hope

Hi. I finished my PhD in May 2015. I received an offer for a postdoc/professorship starting on August 24th.

I applied for EAD and Green Card (married to a citizen).

    Date received: April 22nd
    Date EAD approved: July 13th

We received the notice that I was approved. We called, they said it would take up to 30 days to receive the card (August 13th). Then last week, they started saying that it will take up to 60 days to produce the card because of mistakes made at the facility. That would push me towards 150 day period. I cannot postpone my postdoc and health insurance because of their utter negligence. They said that Missouri service center is not even accepting expedite requests now because of the "technical difficulties."

How could they GUARANTEE to us that we would get the card before August 13th, and now turn it to September 13th? How can they wait 5 months to produce a card and not have another solution for this? After our inforpass appointment, my status even changed into "card production," but then went back to "case approved." Now the phone representatives are saying that they don't understand how we even ever saw the "card production" status (we even have an e-mail). It's as if someone is playing with our lives and there is nothing we can do.

Is anyone here waiting this long for their card??? (114th day now)

Exact same thing happened to my husband. EAD case approved on July 13, 2015. Waited and waited. Nothing.
Aug. 7 went to InfoPass (his lawyer made an appt), and the agent said this was ridiculous and sent an enquiry to the service center. The agent said nothing would be guaranteed but these agent requests are taken seriously. Aug. 10 card produced. Aug 11 card mailed. Aug 13 card delivered. Try to make an appt at info's and go in. Personally I am guessing something went wrong with a batch of cards and the cards were never reprinted.

p.s. when we called the person on the phone said the same thing --that we have to wait 30 days. However, info's was more effective.

Tell your employer they need to get you a visa. I made the same mistake over 10 years ago. Should have asked the employer to get me a visa but instead figured I would get the EAD. Accepted a job but awaiting EAD. In the end I lost a month's work and had no healthcare during that time. About a month after the interview and receipt of green card, the EAD finally arrived!
