  • EAD or H1B

    Hi,

I got my EAD+AP combined card.
I still have a valid H1-B visa too and currently employed on it.
I am travelling in two weeks outside the US.
Is it advised to stay on H1-B, or should I change to EAD status?

    Thank you!

There is pros and cons to both. If you have dependents who don't have AP, it is better to stay in H1B status.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

Thans kabkaba! I don't have any dependents. If I choose to use the EAD, do I have to do something with my employer, like an I-9 form?

Yes, that would be good. But, it is okay if you don't do anything also. Just return using the AP and any employment after that will be using EAD.

Also, if you plan to have dependents in future (before you get your GC), it is better if you keep the H1B.
