  • Waiting on EAD

    Hello, everyone.

On July 17, 2015 my mom's adjustment of status application was recieved. One week later on July 24, 2015 we recieved a letter for her biometrics appointment for August 12, 2015. It's been almost a month without any other letter stating that her EAD was approved. I will like to know anyone could share their timeline or does anyone know how long does it take to get EAD aproved?

Hi, where did she applied? I applied for a renewal to Nebraska office on 7-28-15 and I still don't have news.

      My Wifes timeline

      Hi,

I read a lot of comments from this forum that made my wife and I a bit nervous since she was applying for a renewal for her EAD that expires on September 17 and all the comments were bad so I tought I shared her story to give people some hope about the process:

Her case was taken by the Nebraska Service Center and was for an L2 visa, the timeline was as followed:

July 10, 2015:We applied online and the following message was posted on her timeline: We received your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization
July 16, 2016: We received your correspondence for Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization.
      August 3, 2016: Biometrics appointment

No news for over a month so we called on Aug 26 to see if we could expedite the process based on financial loss (she would lose her job if she did not get the EAD on time)

August 27, 2015: On August 27, 2015, your request to have your case expedited, referral number ZZZ, was assigned to an officer for response.
August 27, 2015: On August 27, 2015, your request to have your case expedited, referral number T1E2381504241NSC, was completed. (we received an email saying it was denied).

Then no further news from them so my wife talked with HR and they told her if she did not receive the card by September 17 she will have to be put on unpaid leave which was not perfect but at least they did no have to fire her.

On September 1 she received a letter from HR asking for her new EAD, since she did not have it she brought her latest status were it said she applied for the renewal so they know she was working on it.

Then no news until September 11

September 11, 2015: Status changed to We ordered your new card.
September 15, 2015: On September 16, 2015, we mailed your new card for Receipt Number ZZZ, to the address you gave us. If you do not receive your card by October 15, 2015, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request that we send your new card to you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.
September 17, 2015: Received card on the mail.

      Total time: 69 days

So as you will see, it does not always take as much as people says (we read people who took 120 days), it is just a matter of having good luck, but usually from other people experience it take around 90 days (+/- 5 days)

      Hope this timeline helps
