EAD is taking a long time - Receipt number not found on status checker
Hey guys,
this is my first post. I am currently on my 3rd year of my L1B visa and it expires on 28th November. I have an outstanding family based application for a Green card and I applied on August 19th via e-file for an EAD. Ever since I submitted the EAD application the status checker on the USCIS website has not recognized my receipt number, but I received 2 letters from USCIS, one to say they received my application (receipt) and a second to say that I didn't need to have fingerprints and bio-metrics taken, that they would use those from my Green card application.
I am starting to get really worried that I haven't received anything yet and I cannot check the status of where the application is at online. I have called and no one is able to help me on the help line number and they are not able to look up the receipt number either. My employer is looking at the only option of going back to my home country (Ireland) to renew my visa for another 2 years. I am reluctant to do this due to the cost, and because I have an outstanding EAD application. Also my wedding is in 2 weeks in Puerto Rico and I will be over there until November 11th, so that would give me only a 2 week window to go back and renew the visa.
My questions are, has anyone submitted an application and not had the number recognized online? And also, if my visa expires and I still haven't got the EAD, will I be able to remain employed on unpaid leave, given that I can remain in the country with my outstanding green card application?
