  • Biometrics information for a former H1-B government employee

    Hi All-

My husband and I recently applied for I-485 and I -765 applications, and just received our receipt notice. Formerly, I was on an OPT, then on an H-1B visa, sponsored by the NYC DOE, and then a charter school. I had been finger printed at the precinct, prior to my employment as this was necessary in order to attain my teaching certificate. My H1-B has since expired, and I'm now on a B-2 visa, as I wait for the approval of my I -765, complicated, I know!

Does USCIS have access to these prints, as they were originally done for a government job, and if so, am I still required to get my biometrics taken? I'm anxiously waiting to get work authorization so that I can start working again.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.
