Can i apply for jobs before EAD is approved?

Hi Guys,

Im currently going through the green card process, heres my timeline so far - sent to Chicago lockbox -

Jan 26, 2016 - I-485, I-130, I-765 Cases received.
Feb 25, 2016 - Biometrics done
Mar 03, 2016 - I-485 Case ready to be scheduled for interview
Mar 16, 2016 - I-131 Case received

Its been 56 days since my I-765 has been received. It takes 90 days, so im hoping ill have it within the next month or so.
The question is - Am i allowed to apply for jobs, as long as i tell them i cannot start until i receive my EAD? Am i correct in thinking that i am not breaking any laws just by applying for jobs? As long as i do not start working before i have the EAD in hand...

I ask this because there is a job fair in a few days which is too good to miss, run by a very reputable local business, and they are looking for employees in my line of work.

Any feedback would be appreciated,

Mine is been 103 days today I applied on 22 December 2015 still haven't heard anything from uscis

Even if you applied for job, you are not qualified to work yet until you have your EAD in hand.
You can be applying ahead of time and see if your EAD arrives on time. I believe you're not breaking any law

If your case is been pending for that long, you might need to schedule an INFOPASS at your local field office.

Mine is been 103 days today I applied on 22 December 2015 still haven't heard anything from uscis

Call customer service
if you didn't received your EAD in 75 days you can enquire and ask them to open service request .I got mine in 84 days after doing that.

Thanks guys, it's been 64 days right now so I'll leave it another 10 days or so until I put in a service request. Yeah I wouldn't plan on working before I get my EAD but it would be nice to get some interviews before as the hiring process usually takes a while. Thanks for your help

You can start applying for jobs generally no employer will allow you to work without background check and your legal status so far as you don't work you can apply while waiting for your EAD to come out. Good luck

HI JAMES,

Im completely new at this,,,wondering, when you said 70 days, does it mean business days or calendar days?
Also, by any chance do you remember how long did it take for you to get the notification that the cases were received after you posted them for the first submission?
