Last minute Renewal for EAD

I hope someone can help me with this urgency -

My advisor requested I wait for the 24 month STEM extension and due to traveling abroad for my job, was I only able submit my I-765 application on June 3. My old EAD card expires June 14. My current employer only requires the receipt to extent me while I wait. HOWEVER I haven't received the receipt and understand that I haven't waited long yet. My question is: Is there any way that I can keep working while waiting for the application receipt after my current EAD card has expired, is there some sort of grace period?

yes u can still work while waiting for uscis to make a decision
