  • SSN takes four weeks to process and need to check with another office?!

Hello! I am going through Detroit to process my now husbands entire process! We received EAD card in mid May and applied for SSN near end of May. Complicated story as to why we waited. But SSN said they need to check with someone in regards to the confirming his EAD to give him a SSN???

I read somewhere that it may not show in their system right away either. Which can be the error. Has anyone experienced this before ?! Is there anything I can do. We have an employer waiting for this SSN

And randomly enough, 1.5 weeks after receiving the EAD card, we received a notification that our interview has been scheduled for mid June. Not sure if I should be worried ?!

    Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, and yes, the SSN office may take up to 4 weeks to verify work status with immigration (even though the EAD is accurate) This could be due to some spelling error that occurred before with the application ? My parents case was similar. My stepdad's I-797C was good from day one, but my mom's had a spelling error (which was fixed in due time and her EAD came correctly spelled) However, they both went to apply for SSN afterwards, and that same day my step dad was told he was going to get his SSN in 2 weeks, but for my mother's the wait had to be 4 weeks because SSN office had to verify her EAD with immigration, because it wasn't coming up in their system. Before the 4 weeks were up, she got her SSN in the mail.
I wouldn't worry too much, but if you still feel insecure, you could call immigration to double check about that interview.

    Best of luck
