  • EAD card trying to get SSN Help plz !

Does it matter the SSN office you go that determines how fast you'll get your SSN? Asking because I would really like to start working and even though I have the EAD card I can't work because I don't have my SSN yet. Really want to know if I go to a next office if I can get it faster than 4 weeks (which the office I went to said )

No. It doesn't matter which Social Security office you go to. They all will do the same thing in the same amount of time because it's all regulated by the federal government. If you go to a different office and try going through the process to get the SSN again, it will not increase the amount of time it takes to get the SSN by any means and you'll likely just wast your time. Any office will do.

I am facing the same issue. It's so frustrating ! We first have to wait 90 days for EAD and then another 4 weeks for SSN. I just applied for mine today.

Did you receive the card? How long it actually took to arrive?

When I applied for my SSN after getting my EAD I was told that I could start work straight away (I actually started the day after applying for SSN). The Social Security office should have given you a letter to give to your employer. I waited the 4 weeks only to be told my SSN had been issued, but I would have to wait a further 2 weeks for it to be processed and the card printed!!!

All is good now, I have my SSN and working away quite happily. I hope you get a resolution soon.
