  • Request For Initial/Additional Evidence I-765

    Hello,

We received a letter in the mail stating our forms for I-131 and I-765 the application lists your preparer's address as your US mailing address. Provide your US mailing address. Please indicate if you want your documents sent to your preparer's address when you provide your US mailing address.

Its says that we have 87 days to respond and to send a copy of the letter.

I filled out all the paper work for my wife, we are married and I am not sure why they would want this additional information. I called USCIS and they would not give me any information. I am wondering do we have to fill out the forms I-131 and I-765 or just send them a letter that we want the mail to come to our address?

If anyone knows what I am supposed to do please let me know thank you for your time looking.

    Giang,

Apparently you filled out the I-765 and I-131 incorrectly, with a preparer address, and/or your address, in the wrong place.

First review your copies of the I-765 and I-131 to see how you showed addresses for you and preparer. Then respond to the "Request for Evidence" with the correct address for any USCIS correspondence to reach you

Thanks for the reply. But I don't have the copies of the form so can I write a letter or something to tell them?

If you don't have copies of the forms you sent, then you don't really know what was on the forms to cause a "Request for Evidence" problem. Do the forms over and have someone with experience check them, then mail them with a note explaining your correction, with the RFE correspondence on top.

          Hello,

My wife received the same letter. I prepared the application for her so I filled in my information as the preparer. Do you still recommend to take the same action of filling out the form again but this time leaving the preparer information blank and providing a letter stating what my wife's U.S. mailing address is?

            Wiza,

Without seeing the Request for Evidence, I can't tell you how to respond.

Here are the first pages of both letters that my wife received.
              Your help is much appreciated.

                Wiz,

Resubmit the I-131 and I-765 again and with the mailing address of the beneficiary. Include a copy of the receipt notice for the I-485 that serves as the basis for these two included benefits (I-131 and i-765).

This is what I am confused about. We put the mailing address of my wife in the original application.
Should I just not fill out the preparer section when resubmitting applications?
I'm also confused why they sent this Request for Information after my wife received the EAD card.
