I just recently got my EAD card, so I was just wondering if I need to get a new social security card in order to work. My current card states "Not authorized for employment". If so, what documents/proof do I need to prepare in order to get a new card? Thank you!

No, you don't have to. At this point, if you update your status with Social Security, all you will get is a card that says "valid for work only with DHS authorization". For work purposes, there is no difference between that and what you have now. The only difference between the two is the ability to claim the Earned Income Tax Credit on your taxes.
The EAD and an ID like your passport are enough to update your status.
This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
