  • Just received ead, whats next?

Hi every1, ive been reading alot in this forum and i see you help alot of ppl so i'm going to ask, receuved my ead yesterday but usuallly the notice tell me what to do next but this wasnt the case, i went to my lawyer but he was busy and his assistant told me to wait for my social security to come, i asked him if i didnt need to apply for the social and he said no, but i dont trust him much, is it truth? I applied for adjustment of status, i485 and also i765, will uscis send me the social or do i need to go to a social security center myself right now? Thanks

If you don't already have an SSN and want to get one, you will have to go to a Social Security office and wait in line to apply for it yourself. It's not going to "come".

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

Thanks alot mate, also 1 more question hope it doesnt bother you, hopefully i will apply this monday so once i receive my ssn what should i do next? I was thinking before going to the interview to get any quick job and fill taxes with my wife and join together into a health insurrance to show more evidence at the time of the interview witch at this rate will be in less tham 2 months probably because my case is moving rly fast, i should do that right? My father in law is doing affisavit of support that's why im not sure if is mandatory to get a job and fill taxes before the interview.

You can get a job if you want but there is no requirement for you to work. You can sign up for health insurance regardless of whether you work or not, and whether you have an SSN or not. Similarly, you can file taxes regardless of whether you have an SSN or not. Taxes for last year are not due until April 15; it shouldn't make a difference if you file it before the interview or not, as long as you file by April 15.

I came to United States on F1 visa. My wife is Green Card Holder and she filed I-130 in October, 2015 which got Approved in March, 2016. I filed for AOS, I-765 and I-131 in October,2016. I-765 got approved in Jan, 20017 and Figner Print done in November, 2016. I-131 and I-485 is still pending. Now, my question is my EAD has been approved so do i have to continue my F1 Student Visa status or is it okay if i drop my school and continue full time working? i am still waiting for my Interview call. Pleae help me out because i am getting mixed review about this situation. My primary lawyer suggested that i must have to maintain my F1 visa status until i get Interview letter while there are some online forms which says in this situation it is not necessary to maintain F1 status.
          Thank You.
