How long before the expiration date of EAD/AP can I submit the renewal form?

Hello Everyone,

I have this question as mentioned in the title. Some people said it's better to wait no longer than 180 days before the expiration date. Also worried about their long processing time on every case.
Mine expires in October 2017, do you have any suggestions on when should I submit the renewal request?

And how much is it to renew it and should I send it to Chicago (the original place I sent my I-485, I-130, I-765, and I-131)?

Usually its recommended to file 90 days before expiration date.180 days is early in my opinion. I've heard somewhere that they dont accept renewal application too soon,dont quote me on that though.You can look for all of the info on USCIS website. Your EAD might come with a piece of paper for faster renewal too so remember to submit it along with the application

The Employment Authorization and Advance Parole are issued for a full year. But before that year is up, your Adjustment of Status is normally completed and your Green Card shows up. After you have your Green Card, the EAD and Advance Parole are no longer needed. There is no reason to be planning to renew the EAD and Advance Parole unless there is an unusual delay in processing your Adjustment of Status.

Thank you for your response. I live in Houston and I heard the Houston field office is one of the slowest one, which it often takes more than a year to approve the AOS. Therefore I am thinking to renew the EAD card just in case I don't receive the green card before my EAD card expires this October.

Do you know if the fee for renewing EAD can be waived for AOS pending status? and where should I send the I-765 form to ?

There is no fee for renewing the EAD if you include a copy of the I-485 receipt notice and a copy of the existing EAD.
Your application will go to the Chicago dropbox address.
