  • Advnace Parole - Traveling outside of the United States

    Hello everyone,
I just received my EAD/AP card this week. Can I travel outside the United States with my advance parole card? And do I need to notify immigration that I'm traveling outside the United States?

You can travel out of the US with AP. That's the whole point of AP. No, you don't have to notify anyone.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

How long you are planning to be out of US? I am yet to receive the card but planning to go to India for 3 months once I get the card. Just want to know is it safe to travel for 3 months using AP?

            Left for 11 months

I traveled last year from April through to March this year on my AP and got some extra questions but no problem getting in. The original AP I traveled on actually expired while I was away and when the new one was issued my other half sent it to me and that's what I used to return. I was actually a bit confused as to whether I hadn't violated something by having the AP sent to me based on posts I had seen here but an immigration officer at an infopass told me that there's no problem with forwarding a travel document. I would still advise that you seek out as much information as possible if you're ever in a similar situation however.
