          Green card update!

          *Long post warning*

Interview was on August 16, 2018. My husband and I were in the same room together. The questions that were asked were basic. I was asked my husband's full name, his birthdate, his parents names, and the place where he was born. My husband was asked to give answers to the security questions that is in one of the forms. He was asked my full name, my birthdate, where I was born, all the addresses where we have lived, where I work, and my parents names. After this, the officer asked him to tell about how we met. I added in bit and pieces to this conversation as well.

Remember to bring any updates documents to the interview, such as new leases/mortgages, bank statements, anything that you own together, proof of children that were born, pictures, etc. This will make your case stronger.

We were given a conditional green card until my husband updates his medical exam. We asked the lawyer before the interview if we needed to update, and was told no. However, USCIS wants a current exam if it is part a year.

The best advice that I can give is to remain relaxed and calm during the interview. It really isn't necessary to bring along a lawyer if you are confident, have nothing to hide, and do not need an interpreter. My husband and I watched people with lawyers present get denied, while those who didn't bring theirs, get accepted.

I hope that all May 2017 applicants have come to a close on the stage of making their spouses a permanent citizen.
This year has been challenging mentally for my spouse and I'm just glad that he can finally relax. It is nice knowing that we can travel without fear of being not being allowed back in country together. I have listed out timeline below for those who are wondering and/or still waiting.
