using AP meanwhile waiting for interview

Hi, I have some questions regarding AP. Hope anyone here can help me.

I’m currently in AOS (entered US with a K1 fiancé visa) and already have my combo card and my status is "waiting for interview to be schedule".

1) I want to go back home (Mexico) for 15 days to visit family, attending my best friend wedding and get some papers from my college so I can enroll in a master here in the U.S . Just want to know if is ok for me using my AP to do the trip even if is not a emergency trip.
2) If someone has returned using AP to JFK, can you tell me your experience? Or any other airport, I will love to hear the experience of using AP.
