  • Expedite AP for Upcoming Marriage Celebration

My husband is from the UK and we've been planning a big wedding in the UK since last year. He recently lost his job in US (he was on L-1 visa), so we moved up our wedding date and green card process. The wedding is on Nov 25th and we were planning to fly on Nov 17th to UK. Here's our breakdown:

    Filed: 8/17/2017 at MSC
    Biometrics: 9/14/2017

Right now, I'm trying to expedite his AP so we can leave the country on Nov 17th, on the basis of severe financial loss (+61K of direct/indirect costs to us, family, friends, etc.). Our justification document is 50+ pages long. I know they typically don't grant for weddings, but does that count if it's your wedding? We have an InfoPass appointment in both Philly and Pittsburgh next week to try to get an expedited or emergency AP.

Any insight on the likelihood of this being granted? Our lawyer says APs went from 2-3 months (prior to Trump) to 3.5-4 months. We'd all be crushed if we had to cancel our wedding.

I think his chances of getting expedited AP on this basis is poor, but not impossible

I had same experience with you.
I tried to expedite my AP for my wedding in south korea, but it did not work.
I got infopass appointment for this situation more than 2 times... but nothing to do for wedding ceremony.
At the same time, my grandmother had really bad cancer. So, I got doctor's note and went info pass appointment at the local office.
Doctor's note was written that my grandmother could live only 3 months. But they said that this could not expedite because she had 3 months not few days.... So this was also denied.....

Are you already married and having a second wedding in the UK?

I'm not quite following you, because it sounds like you want to adjust status, but wanted to get married outside of the US and then return, which is likely a Consular Processing issue.

I wouldn't do too many enquiries if I were you because something doesn't make sense and they may think the same and deny it all together.
        Not legal advice.
