  • Can I have Advanced Parole for unplanned trips?

    Hi,

On an ESTA, married a US citizen, about to submit my application for AOS.

I had planned to apply for Advance Parole go back to my country in summer for my sister's wedding. But due to a sickness in her fiance's family the wedding has been postponed indefinitely.

    1) Can I submit an I-131 for advance parole at a later date when I know when the wedding will be?

    2) How long does is take for Advance Parole to be granted?

    3) I am on an ESTA, will I be able to get back into the U.S.? I am submitting my AOS application today.

    4) I don't have any trips planned at the moment, however is it possible to submit an I-131 so that I can go abroad whenever I wish? Or are we limited to dates we specify only?

    Thank you

    1. Sure, but there is no reason not to file it now. The sooner you file the sooner you will get it. You don't need any date or any plans. Most people get AP with no plans just in case they want to travel.
    2. 4-5 months
    3. yes
    4. Absolutely
