  • I-175 item 15

    Hi,

On ESTA, married a US citizen and about to submit application for AOS.

On form I-765 (employment authorization) item 15 ask if I have ever applied for employment authorization from USCIS.

I have been on two J1 visas where I had permission to work. Does that mean I or a sponsor on my behalf applied to USCIS for employment authorization before?

    Thanks
    Marriage-based AOS - Concurrent filing.

    02/20/2018 - Received 4 I-797 NOA letters

04/08/2018 - Expedited EAD (Extreme Emergent Situation)
04/20/2018 - Received a letter requesting evidence of Extreme Emergent Situation
05/04/2018 - Notified that EAD being processed

No, J1 don't get EADs. Unless you were in some other status when you got an EAD (e.g. OPT), the answer is no.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
