Can you book a flight while waiting for your AP?

Hi - I am waiting on my AP & hoping it comes through before I must travel for a family wedding in October. Am I allowed to make a flight booking for a date in the future without the AP in hand, or is there some way for USCIS to track this & also consider it 'abandonment' of the I-485?

Sure. You just need to have been granted the AP before you leave.
