AP Approval with stamp question?

After months of calling USCIS and the Ombudsman, I got my Advance Parole. It was done after my EAD so has come in letter form.

It has a stamp area on the bottom, which has not been stamped. Is this something they stamp when I return, or is it something I need before I travel?

we did not get that letter, but had the combo card. The passport was stamped when we came back with a AP special stamp in the passport
