  • Adv Parole approved & not received. Need to travel!

    Hi,

I have applied for AOS through my wife who is a US citizen. My fingerprint and biometrics were taken last week. I received a status change email on June 1st saying my Adv Parole has been approved and mailed. But when I called CIS today, they said it may take up to 30 days to receive the Adv Parole doc. Hence the questions below:

    1. I need to travel outside of US on June 15th. Coming back on July 11th. If I don't receive Adv Parole before I leave, is it safe to assume I will get it before July 1st as CIS promises? I can ask my wife to fedex to me in India.

    2. Also, I do not remember the exact dates and length of stay I filled out in the Adv Parole application. I sure mentioned either June or July. Since I am coming back in July, am I likely to run into any problem?

    3. I quit my job in Feb this year. But my prev work visa is valid till 2007. If at all I don't get adv parole doc by the time I return, can I reenter with my old work visa?

    4. Can I take it up with Chennai US consulate to give me a Adv Parole doc if I don't receive it before my return flight? How long does the process take?

Sorry for all the questions. Thanks and any advice/comments/suggestions highly appreciated.

It will probably arrive in afew days. yes, she could fed-ex it to you but always bear in mind that mail sometimes get lost.........its a piece of mail just like nay other. If you really NEED to leave, at least print the update page from the internet and keep it with you, but usually once you have an appoved AP BEFORE travel , the hassle wont be too much. You'll be sent for secondary inspection, but dont panic thats standard with all AP.

AP is issued by USCIS becaus ethats where your application is. The Consualte cant help u in that regard. The date on the form is neither here nor there. Dont worry

Urgent!!!!please Help, Do Not Know What To Do?!!!!!

I have a trip to EUROPE coming up, and I already have my visa,, but I just got the BIOMETRICS 3 days ago and I do nt want my wife to travel on her own. i heard it take up to 2 weeks or even longer to get the ADVANCE PAROLE after the biometrics. Well, the trip is this saturday, and I really need to resolve the issue,,, was thinking, IS THERE ANY WAY TO GET MY ADVANCE PAROLE APPROVAL by way of mail or update page, so that I may leave the country documented and have my friend send the ADVANCE PAROLE over to EUROPE while I am there and then come back into the country with my advance parole?, or somehow get somekind of approval so that I may leave without it? will I need it to leave the country? is it possible for me to travel outside of the us without it? is it going to be a problem? what do I do? PLEASE HELP!!!!

Thank you so much for your encouraging and prompt reply. Just want to know what you mean by I will be sent for a secondary inspection. I have never heard of this term before and so a little explanation will be of great help. Thanks again.

When you come to the POE (point of Entry) u usually wait in line then go the officer and he checks blah blah., thats primary (1st) inspection.....when there is an issue with the person's Visa or something is amiss or in your case, because you have AP, he takes your passport and give it to another officer (Secondary )in a little room. You go in, sit and then they call u by name, ask u very basic questions, stamp ur AP and you're good to go!

            Received AP! Thanks

My AP arrived yesterday (June 10th). I got the email stating that my AP was approved and mailed on June 1st. So, it takes around 10 days to receive it.

Thank you for your support and advice here. This is a great forum!

My receipt date is March 28, 2006. Though I live in San Francisco, I had to apply to Chicago Lee's Summit office since my AOS needed to be filed there.

Question: What are the docs I need to enter back to US? This is what I am thinking:
                  1. A copy of my wife's birth certificate (US citizenship proof) and our marriage certificate
                  2. The original of I-485 biometrics receipt with Biometrics done stamp on it
                  3. The original Adv Parole document
(unfortunately, I lost the originals of all the receipts for I-485,I-765,I-131,I-130 that I received initially and don't even have photocopies. Hope its not a big issue)

Am I all set to leave? Thanks

..your passport, and AP.............you dont need the rest you mentioned. You present the AP and passport to the officer, thats all. Did you get 2 or three copies f the AP...........there is some debate whether u give on eto them or not so just carry 2 but they will stamp ur I-94 and the AP and return to you.
