By some miracle I was finally able to schedule Infopass in Montgomery, Alabama on Oct 15th - do you think they will be able to tell me what is in the RFIE? And can the officer contact NBC and push them to send the RFIE again at once?

    Hi MsGhassemi,

I file it under a huge success! The drive was about 3 hours from Florida to Alabama. We got there with my husband way before our 9:20 appoinment. The Immigration Officer (IO) was the only one who was taking pictures and fingerprinting people who were there for interview and also the person to talk to for Infopass appointment. Other IOs were calling people into offices, probably for GC or citizenship interview, Infopass was done with the IO in the waiting area. He was really nice and helpful. He called us to his window at about 9:35 and we talked for about 15 minutes, maybe less.

He was able to find my I-485 application in the system and when I told him it has been supposedly sent on September 5th, he said, let me check what the RFIE was about and he printed it for us. He even said that we should prepare reply, include the RFIE he just gave us and mail it to the address in the RFIE. I asked him twice if we should wait for the letter from USCIS (from my still unassigned SR from Sep 25th) or just use the one he gave us and he smiled, pointed to his USCIS logo on the shirt and replied that "yes, use the letter I just gave you, I am USCIS employee, believe me"

I asked him about Montgomery office, he said that the timeline on webpages 8-15 months wait for interview for GC is not accurate, the wait is in fact actually even longer, by many months, we blanked on the real months, sounded like 13-25 months

As I suspected, RFIE was for tax documentation for 2017 - which we included in our original application in March!

I am so mad but also happy that there is actually something we can do. My husband already logged on IRS webpage, he's gonna print the tax doc for 2017 and we will sent it expressly on Tuesday after his work. So hopefully, something will move on my GC and mainly EAD application until the end of November, fingers crossed.

Glad to hear you were able to get some answers! 30 days have past since I submitted the outside processing time request and I have heard nothing; I called and they submitted another request and said to wait another 30 days. I also submitted an expedited request because if I don't get my EAD my November I will lose my job, I should hear a response in 5 days.

Thank you, now I am nervously awaiting any confirmation or anything from NBC that they actually received my reply - USPS says they delivered it to NBC on Friday, Oct 19th.

This is so infuriating - you already waited 30 days and now to wait 30 more. I really hope that your expedited request fro EAD will be processed in those 5 days, it would be really bad to lose a job just because USCIS doesn't do their job properly :-/

Here?s an update: I had the interview today for the greencard; everything went well and I was approved. At the end of the interview I asked the lady about my EAD case and she said the reason why it has been delayed this much is because my interview had been scheduled, and because of that they don?t proceed with the EAD process (because once having the greencard I don?t need the EAD). So that?s it.
I should get the greencard in a couple of weeks

                  April Filer Still waiting

My husband got his mail receipt for his EAD renewal on april 11 and we are still waiting for his EAD. His fingerprint review was completed on April 16.

Our service center is NBC. We tried to expedite last week and it got denied because the case is already assigned to an officer. We reached out to our congressman last week so currently waiting to hear back.

Any other April people that are still waiting? Today marks 203 days..

I am so sorry, this must be really infuriating. I don't understand how can the deny the expedite when the case is already assigned to an officer, shouldn't that be like a nudge for him to do something? Please let us updated.

I filed outside normal processing time first on Sep 23rd (got RFIE for 485, so I understand they didn't do anything), then second service request on Oct 30th, as my status for 485 changed to case ready to be scheduled for interview. They have until Nov 14th to reply to my second service request why my EAD/Ap still hasn't been processed. I have a feeling that I will have to engage congressman and ombudsman also, if there is no reply.

Oh wow that is crazy. Please keep us posted as well as you have an earlier date than we do. We just reached out to our congressman last week and have scheduled an infopass for November 19th.

                          Finally got EAD

After I submitted the outside of normal processing time request I was told to wait 30 days to hear a response but nothing happened; after 30 days I called and submitted a second request, and 10 days after the second request my EAD was approved, the card was mailed and I should be getting it this week.

The first time I submitted a request I did it online and never got a confirmation email or anything, the second request I did it over the phone and I got an confirmation email about the request, not sure if that makes a difference.

I called today as I was supposed to get an update on November 3 for my first SR. The representative told me to wait the full 30 days . That?s exactly a week from today (that happens to be Veterans Day) .

Did you already receive the card?
