Hello, I have a perculiar case and I am worried sick. I received my advanced parole March 2018 and travelled June 2018. When I was returning, the delta official at check in desk in My country pointed out an error on my travel document which I did not notice prior. The document had all my correct information but a different woman?s picture( ofcourse I saw that but I assumed it was the signee s picture and did not know it had to be my picture otherwise I would have rectified it before travelling..silly right 🙈. Fast forward, I am stuck and cannot go back to the US. I contacted USCIS and they asked me to send in the wrong document and my passport photograph which I have, they have expedited it, my lawyer has Made a representation and they said it has been rectified and will be mailed out but up till now nothing. I left the US June 7th and was meant to return July 25th and till now no word from USCIS, only their mail acknowledging receipt of the wrong document and my letter explaining reasons for the return. The USCIS official told my lawyer yesterday that he will send a reminder for them to mail it to my address but that it has been rectified and approved on their system and that if I can travel without it, they will allow me in upon arrival in the US because it?s on their system. This is even impossible if I were to attempt it because I will not be allowed to even depart my country without the document or a valid visa. Any advise please?

Originally posted by UScitizenFilingforspouse View PostI would think that you should be able to call USCIS in the presence of airline personnel and have USCIS verify that they will deal with you upon arrival. Is this AOS through marriage? Have your spouse contact your Senator. They will put a rush on it. Unbelievable. I would even reach out to the Ombudsman. They need to know what a circus USCIS has turned into.

The airline called customs and border control while I was there and they asked me to go to the US embassy in my country for a travel document and on getting there I was told they only issue travel documents to GC holders! Yes it?s AOS by marriage and my spouse has called USCIS too but not much difference either. Maybe we will reach out to the senator as advised. And you know that if one calls USCIS, it?s usually their customer service department that picks calls so not a decision maker, they just document your complaints and pass it on.
Many senators are seeking re-election in November. Believe me they will help you. Do no use any inflammatory language. Do mention that your spouse is a registered voter. You do not have to mention the party.
You start the letter with "To the Honorable Senator Kim Jones"
You close it with very respectfully.
Tell them that you were told to go to the US embassy and they would not issue a travel document for you.
A part of me doubts that the airline called US customs and border control. I seriously doubt it.
I would call the Senator's office first, and ask them how to proceed. Hopefully, you have access to wifi and are able to make calls over wifi.
Please let us know how it goes.
All the best,
USCFFS
