I hope someome can help. U applied for adjustment of status August 2017. My wife ( US Citizen) and I have not gotten an interview date as yet. I applied for an EAD which I received a few months after. My card expired 09/13/2018 but I didn't realize the process took so long. I thought it was just a matter of extending it. In any case I need to reapply. My questions are: 1. Based on what I'm reading I can send in a new application without fee; is this correct. 2. Will this affect my Adjustment of Status application. 3. Are there any additional steps I need to take? AI am thinking of sending off the application today or Monday.

2. Filing for renewal of your EAD will have no bearing on your AOS case. Some people do find that right after filing for renewal, the interview is scheduled. Thus, it may trigger the interview.
3. Just read the instructions, select "renewal".
I would also apply for I-131 Advance Parole. Include a cover letter stating you are filing to renew both, and while redundant, state you want a combo card.
Use the slip that came with your combo card. It has a barcode. They will scan your barcode and will issue your I--797 faster. Once you get your I-797 your EAD will automatically be extended for 6 months. You just have to show your employer the expired EAD + I-797.
All the best,
USCFSS
