  • EAD extension

    Hello,

My current EAD card is about to expire in a few weeks. I applied to renew my EAD card back in August, but my new card hasn't arrived yet. I applied as a category C9, so I believe I am allowed a 180 day extension. However, I am having trouble explaining this to Human Resources where I work. I am worried that they don't understand how this extension works and that they won't allow me to work there after my card expires. Does anybody else have any experience with this? How did you get your employers to understand you are allowed an extension?

I showed them the receipt I received after I sent away for my first EAD, which explains the 180 day extension for C9's and also the Notice of Action I received after I applied to renew my card which shows that they received it back in August. Not sure if there is anything else I can show them to help my case?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I am just throwing out my theory here, be warned that this probably wouldn't work at all.

I was able to extend my driver license just by showing DMV staff my SSN, proof where I live, and i 797 that shows 180 days extension before I received my new EAD, so probably if you could show your HR that you are able to renew your driver license, that would probably convince them.

Also you could show them this page right here as an additional proof: https://www.uscis.gov/working-united...-ead-extension

or you can just print it and show it to them.
