  • From Travel Ban Countries/Traveling on EAD/AP

    Hi everyone,
This forum was really helpful for me in the past so I thought I share my experience with traveling on EAD/AP while you are from one of the 6 listed countries that are subject to travel ban.

I was really cautious and worried about my departure. But my lawyer this time was not risk averse and I really appreciated it. I am waiting for my green card which has been unfortunately delayed because of retrogression so my lawyer said I should definitely use my EAD/AP to travel (my job requires me to, it is nearly impossible not to leave the country 3-4 times a year). I travelled outside of the US since then a couple of time.My port of entry is usually Atlanta. Officers have always been very kind to me, giving enough information, letting me know about the process.

You should have an employment letter, your approval, three months pay stubs. They never checked but it is better to have these documents with you. If unemployed, you should not leave the country.

They ask what you do, on what basis your petition was approved etc. If employment-based, they might ask about your area of expertise. Then they stamp your passport, and you are paroled and allowed to enter the country.

I hope this is helpful for some. Note that I only traveled to Europe, I never went back to the country where I am from. But I know of people who have done that as well with no problem.
