  • Advance Parole and Army!!

I need help!!! my lawyer submitted the 485-131 etc... with the advance parole a week ago . My husband is currently deployed to Iraq and is due to come back in November to Germany and I want to be there for him. My question is: would I have time to get the AP to travel on November?? my friends in Germany are telling me that I can can write to my husband's congressman; is this a good idea?? I just want to be there for my husband since he left on November last year, but I'm worried that I'm not going to have time to get the Advance Parole to travel on November. I wrote a letter stating why I need to travel. And also how long is it taking to get the Advance Parole approved??
Thanks, I really hope anyone can answer my questions..!!!!

Youll very likley get it by November.............the Congressman wouldnt be able to help you since its not outside the processing time and its not really an emergency. It usually takes around 2 months

      thanks...

Thanks for your answer I've been reading other cases here and you help a lot around here... well I hope I can get the AP 'cause I can't even sleep thinking and thinking about it.. my husband even told me that he would stay longer in kuwait with the vehicles when he's out of Iraq so that way I have time to get to Germany and be there for his welcome home ceremony but I don't want him to stay there any longer than he has to... so I'm just going to pray and cross my fingers so I can make it on time!!!

Hopefully............it usually takes around 2 months. If not theres nothing to lose by actually going in, say after 6 weeks, and seeing if they will consider it an emergency.

                    i know!!

Yes I know he better sent that today!! I got a lawyer because I thought I would make a mistake doing it by myself had I known this I would have done it by myself... anyways on November is going to be my 5th anniversary and we have 2 kids so my marriage is a real one... We never did this because I had my papers through my mom but since they said I marriaged to young I lost that right and I could never filed the I-751 to remove the conditions trhough my mom's case because I was in Germany for 3 years with military orders well anyways I received a lot of answers so we just decided that my husband was going to do the petition for me just in case so I don't care how long is going to take for me to get the green card I just want the Advance Parole so I can go and see my husband when he is back from Iraq. Now my congressman is helping me and I also have a letter form my husband's Batallion... and an infopass apoitment tomorrow (I think the won't help me anyways).... Ohh by the way the 1-800 is just b.s I have called 7 times and I heard 7 different answers so instead of helping me they confused me...
Well today is Otober 3 1:02 am I will keep everyone posted on my case... I know a lot of people are in the same boat... dealing with CIS papers.. forms.. petitions...that's just crazy I guess when we become green card holders and citizens that's when we start a normal life!!! but until that we just got to wait and wait and wait and get upset when something is missing and get happy when something gets approved and just that A ROLLER COASTER!

I know exactly how you feel. I ahte when lawyers make simple unavoidable mistakes and mess up people's lives. You never know what might happen at infopass. if you get the right officer, he might just approve it for you. Good luck and let us know!

                        you were right!!!

Helloooo!!!! you were right about infopass... I'm so happy today and relieve.... well I talk to a very nice immigration officer.. explained my case and showed her the letter I got from the United States Army she read it and told me to wait for a minute that she was going to speak to the Director when she came back she told me to go back and apply in person made a list of what I need and when they approved it I'll get it in 5 days. She told me that is no life or death but is either to go fot a vacation after all my husband is there risking his life and doing missions.... and Iraq gets worse everyday.... The only thing that bothers me is that now I have to wait for the receipts as proof that my case is pending... I showed her the receipts but in the list she gave to me never mentioned the receipts.. but is better if I take those right??

I'm not sure i underatnd what youre saying about the receipts........it seems to me that she is saying youre to RE apply , this time in person, which menas youll have to pay again........but even if that is so, do it, its a small price to pay to see your husband......and if by the date you apply again, they hav enot cashed the check, put a stop payment on it......I'm happy for you ............ I know a lot can happen if you get the "right" person and present ypur case properly..............and some of them are actually very nice people...........theyre human just like us and the military hold a special place in their hearts

Yes I have to reaply but I don't care 'cause that would be the only way to get the AP on time.. My question about the receipts was sinceeverything was rejected because of my lawyer's mistake he had to resubmmit it again so I guess I'll have to wait until I get the other receipts as proof that everything is pending and not rejected as the first time..right?

Thats not how I undestan dit.............if youre reappling again why would you need those receipts?.............she wants you to start a fresh application, from what i read , and it would be independent of your other pending application so I dont see why you would wait for those receipts
