  • help! I-765 NEEDS biometrics?

    Hi, all!
    Please, help me!
I applied for a working permit, with the I-765 and received a letter with an appointment for my biometrics.
However, a friend told me that there must be a mistake, because I-765 does not need to have the biometrics (she applied 15 days prior to me and has not received any letter scheduling the biometrics).
Could someone give me some information about that? I'm afraid of receiving this biometrics appointment for doing sth. wrong in the application I filled eletronically

Other point is that I actually found one piece of information I typed wrongly, so I'll have to call them tomorrow to talk about this. Does anybody know if they correct it or will I have to submit another aplication?
    Thanks a lot!

I don't know why your friend didn't get an appointment for biometrics. My EAD got approved yesterday. I applied for it First week of Jan 2007 and had my biometrics taken last week of Jan 2007. I also had biometrics taken last year when I filed for AOS. I don't understand why u have some apprehensions on taking your biometrics. Just do whatever USCIS told you to do. For the other thing, you wrote an information that was wrong, what was it? You can always call USCIS customer service and ask for better guidance.

      thanks, Smile!

      Thanks a lot, Smile!
It's 'cos since I'll have to spend all day to go to Charlote and I did this mistake on the e-file, I was wondering if they were requiring the biometrics 'cos of some confusion caused by my mistake.. (which the Customer Service attendant told me he didnt know how/if he could correct, because it was not in the form they sent to me, so I should mention it when I have my biometrics taken). And this friend was so affirmative saying "you don't need a biometrics 'cos I didn't receive anything like that" that I was afraid that they were issuing the wrong type of card to me , even though all the information in my form was saying I-765.
Again, thank you very much for your reply!

        PS to Smile

PS: You asked what was the mistake I made... I forgot to write down my date of entrance in the USA and I continued writing my address in the USA in the line that said "country of citinzenship", so there's a 'USA' written on that.

Even though my date of entrance and correct citizenship are in the papers I sent them via mail (copy of I-94 which was stapled in my visa, and both - the visa and the I-94 - has my country of citizenship), and I filled in the correct place where I was born - and, if I had an american citizenship I would not be applying for a working permit, let alone as a 'spouse of J-1' category -I'm still worried if I will have to submit everything again, pay the fees, etc...
I think it's pretty much obvious it was just a silly mistake (that's what happens when you fill in forms with zillions of things in your mind), and I didn't receive any notice so far that there are problems or errors in my documentation, but, I'm still worried about it. Anyway, let's see what they say when I go for the biometrics.

Anyway, let's wait and see... again, thank you very much for your reply!
